Abstract:Somatosensory evoked potentials (SSEPs) have been used extensively to evaluate the central nervous system. A limitation of using SSEPs is that the peripheral nervous system is intrinsically linked to the production of these potentials. Peripheral nerve ischemia and neuropathies have been shown to result in changes in SSEPs that may be misinterpreted as showing a pathological condition in the central nervous system. Our experimental paradigm was designed to study the practicality and possible benefits of obtain… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
