“…A high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method was developed by Taylor and Westwood (1995) to measure PBZ and OPBZ levels in the plasma of race horses; the method had a limit of quantitation (LOQ) of less than 1 μg mL −1 . Another HPLC screening method with confirmation by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (Neto, Andraus, & Salvadori, 1996) had a similar LOQ (1 μg ml −1 ) for plasma and urine and HPLC was also used to detect PBZ and OPBZ in serum (Haque & Stewart, 1997) with a LOQ of 0.5 μg mL −1 .
