Direct impact characteristics of magnesite fragmentation by pulsed discharge in water

Abstract: To clarify direct impact characteristics (pressure and position) of middle-grade magnesite fragmentation by pulsed discharge in water, this work uses pressure film to accomplish passive measurement through pulsed discharge experiment and obtain the pressure. The impact position is determined by image analysis of fragmentation product morphology, crack edge and discharge channel. Then, pressure load on magnesite surface is numerically analyzed based on the measured pressure obtained from the film. Results indic… Show more

“…The working principle of PIV method is to put tracer particles in the measured fluid medium, measure the flow field with pulsed laser irradiation, capture two or more consecutive frames of images through a camera, calculate the displacement of particles in adjacent images, and obtain the flow field in the real experiment. Currently, the traditional PIV has been realized to calculate the charge-to-mass ratio of individual particles based on the trajectories of particles moving in the electric field [14].…”

“…[14] studied in depth the dynamic loading of high-pressure discharge shock waves in water on the damage to rocks and the evolutionary characteristics of permeability. Jiang Kuang [15], Zheng Jiadong [16] and Zhang Hui et al [17] studied the rock-breaking effect of impact number and discharge electrode spacing through indoor experiments. Ren et al [18] applied liquid electric plasma rock-breaking to a fracturing of a coal-bed methane reservoir, and a large number of fractures and holes appeared after fracturing.…”
