Single drop microextraction (SDME) nowadays earns an increasing attention by scientists due to its simplicity, low cost and the need for only common laboratory equipment. This microextraction technique combines sample cleanup and pre-concentration of analytes in one step. Furthermore, a significant reduction in the amount of organic solvents needed comparing to standard LLE techniques places SDME into the position of environmental friendly extraction techniques. SDME is a straightforward technique in which a micro-drop of solvent is suspended from the tip of a conventional micro-syringe and then it is in a direct contact with a sample solution in which it is immiscible or it could be suspended in the headspace above the sample. The paper overviews developments of the state-of-the-art SDME techniques for the extraction of harmful organic compound and pollutants from environmental, food and biological matrices. Key extraction parameters essential for SDME performance were described and discussed.

The presence of pesticides in food items and beverages is a big threat to humankind, and their quantitative estimation with high precision and accuracy is always a challenge for analytical chemists. Hence, a simple and rapid method is proposed for the simultaneous determination of 30 pesticides in beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks). The proposed method hyphenated with triple quadrupole liquid chromatography mass spectrometry has only 2 min chromatographic runtime for the analysis of all the pesticides. All the factors affecting the extraction yield have been optimized using an experimental design; and under optimized conditions, the developed method has been validated. The detection limits for all the pesticides were in the range of 0.001-0.348 μg/L with good linearity in the concentration range of 0.01-80.0 μg/L. The coefficient of determination was in the range of (R ) ≥ 0.977 to 0.999 for all the pesticides. The method was also checked for the precision of the relative standard deviation, which was below 4.75 (intra-day) and 8.96% (inter-day). The recovery of the method was 92-138%.

In this study, two pesticides viz., diazinon and carbofuran residue levels that is used in agricultural spraying in apple samples that were harvested in 2014 harvest season and kept in cold storage in Karaman province, were examined by gas chromatography-mass spectrometer (GC-MS) and gas chromatography-flame-ionisation detector (GC-FID) method. The samples that were taken from 6 different cold storages in the region at 5 different time zones, were kept in laboratory in refrigerator at + 4 °C. The residue levels of diazinon and carbofuran pesticides in apple samples were determined. In order to identify pesticides residues at least three apple samples that were chosen randomly, were homogenized by homogenizator. In extract of samples QuEChERS method was used since it is fast, easy, lowcost, effective and reliable method. The residues of pesticides were taken from this homogenate with acetonitrile and given to GC-MS equipment in a suitable way. According to the results, carbofuran and diazinon pesticides types that are forbidden in Turkey, were determined in large amount of samples.
