“…28 The morphology and the size of the HNT prodrug were characterized by SEM and dynamic light scattering (DLS). Measurements of the particle size using DLS revealed an apparent hydrodynamic radius of 570 nm for the HNT-Cur prodrug.…”

“…Halloysite is proven to be a biocompatible material in several recent reports on cell cultures 24 and invertebrate models. 7 The uptake and toxic effects of halloysite have been investigated using human cell lines, namely breast cancer cells, 24 thyroid cancer cells, [25][26][27] hepatic cancer cells 28,29 and epithelial adenocarcinoma cells. 24 The toxicity of HNT was tested after 48 hours of incubation with fibroblast and human breast cells.…”

“…The antioxidant capacity of PO in a mixture H 2 O/EtOH (50% v/v) was evaluated by plotting the percentage of inhibition of the free radical scavenging capacity of DPPH against the concentrations of different standard solutions of PO (from 0.3 to 30 mg mL −1 ) (see ESI). As expected, PO showed good antioxidant activity that enhances with the increasing of PO concentration (IC 50 = 7.6 ± 0.2 mg mL −1 ) while the pristine HNT did not exhibit any radical scavenging activity (Massaro, Amorati et al, 2016;Massaro, Riela, Guernelli et al, 2016). It should be noted that the antioxidant activity of the simulant exposed to pectin + HNT/CB[6]/PO film after 120 h was determined using the same DPPH method.…”

“…At pH 6-7, the zetapotential of HNTs put up negative but exerts a positive surface at pH 8.5 [9] and a negative charge with ca −32±2 mV [10]. The external surface of halloysite nanotubes is composted silicon oxygen tetrahedron, the internal lumen is alumina oxygen octahedron, outer surface is the mainly distribution of Si-O-Si group, the inner surface is Al-OH [11]. Because of the multilayer structure, most of the hydroxyl exists within the lumen and only a few in the outer surface [12].…”
