“…The diminution of bile flow by aldosterone administration seems not easy to explain since both bile acids and sodium are decreased to the same extent. Concerning the modifications of bile acid transport by aldosterone, we found (Afifi 1974(Afifi , 1975a) that aldosterone infusion in rabbits inhibits the choleretic response to cholic acid, diminishes the plasma disappearance and the biliary excretion of this bile acid. Since the affinity of the hepatocytes to aldsterone is extremely high (97% of circulating aldosterone is taken up during the first passage through the liver (Bercovici and Mauvais-Jarvis (1972) ), the possibility of competition can be considered.…”
