Dimethylbenz(a)anthracene-induced Mammary Tumorigenesis in Sprague-Dawley Rats Fed Saturated and Polyunsaturated Triacylglycerols and Diacylglycerols.

Abstract: Although epidemiological studies on the relationship between dietary fat and the incidence of breast cancer do not necessarily show a firm positive correlation (1-3), dietary fat plays a crucial role in the pathogenesis of breast cancer in animal models (4-6). In general, polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) in relation to saturated or monounsaturated fatty acids are more promotive in chemical carcinogenesis and the growth of transplanted cancer cells in rodents (4-6). PUFA of the n-6 family, in particular linole… Show more

“…There is no significant difference in energy value and absorption coefficient between DAG and TAG [14]. Numerous studies on the safety aspects of DAG on humans [14][15][16][17] and animals [18][19][20] demonstrated no adverse effects. With the goal of obtaining SL, the synthesis has been generally explored through acidolysis of vegetable oils or interesterification of vegetable oils.…”

“…The Panel considered that the results of the two initiation–promotion studies identified did neither show an enhancing effect of triacylglycerol or diacylglycerol on dimethylbenz(a)anthracene‐induced mammary gland tumorigenesis in Sprague–Dawley rats (Sugano et al., ) nor of diacylglycerol on tumour development in a medium‐term multiorgan carcinogenesis bioassay using F344 rats.…”

“…An interesting result from the in vivo studies carried out using rat studies indicated that the feeding regimes reported based on oily foods containing respective DAG- and TAG-derived rapeseed oils and palm oils showed that the serum plasma TAGs of animal models were changed to lower values via a DAG diet as compared to those fed by oil TAGs. These results played significant physiological roles concerning body weight stabilization by preventing the usual occurring incidences of overweight and obesity critical levels assigned by chylomicron propagations …”

“…These results played significant physiological roles concerning body weight stabilization by preventing the usual occurring incidences of overweight and obesity critical levels assigned by chylomicron propagations. 21 Other specific studies on the aging repair symptoms were investigated by tracing the level of retinol or retinoic acids in the plasma serums of elderly and young human models. The results of the investigation indicated that the retinyl ester transportation in between the intestines and the liver had been affected via esterification processes, 22 deducing that the high affinity of vitamin A to phosphatidyl retinol in turn affected phosphatidyl-myelin and impacted the overall signaling by forming highly protective copolymer ligands termed phosphatidyl-retinol-myelin.…”
