Abstract:Crystal field theory is one of the fundamental theories
to study
the electron level splitting and corresponding optical properties
of transition metal and lanthanide compounds. The magnitude of energy
level splitting is determined by its crystal field intensity; however,
a quantitative dependence on the constituent motif is still absent
in rare-earth crystals. Herein, we build a modified point-charge model
with ligand electro-dipole polarizability and bond length involved,
for crystal field strength analysis. … Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
