Dilaton portal in strongly interacting twin Higgs models

Abstract: We consider a strongly interacting twin Higgs (SITH) model where an ultraviolet completion of twin Higgs mechanism is realized by a strongly coupled approximately scale invariant theory. Besides the Standard Model (SM) and twin sectors, the low energy effective theory contains a relatively light scalar called a dilaton -the pseudo Goldstone boson of spontaneously broken scale invariance. The dilaton provides a unique portal between the SM and twin sectors whose phenomenology could provide an important probe of… Show more

“…As has been detailed for other pNGB realizations of neutral naturalness [36,[50][51][52][53][54], this scalar will have order one couplings to all the pNGBs, leading to observable signals at the LHC and future colliders. If the UV completion involves an approximate scale symmetry then a heavy scalar associated with the breaking of scale invariance, the dilaton, can have large coupling to the SM and hidden sector states [55] providing additional collider signals.…”

“…In addition, it is natural to envision the possibility that the dilaton provides a portal between the SM and a dark sector [4][5][6][7][8][9]. In this work, we assume a strongly coupled approximate scale invariant dark sector which contains a relatively light vector boson (dark photon) of a dark U(1) X gauge symmetry.…”

“…The spontaneous breaking of scale invariance results in a pseudo-Goldstone boson called, dilaton [8]. Requiring the scale invariance of the theory dictates the form of dilaton interactions with the SM and DM in the low-energy effective theory below scale Λ = 4πf [9][10][11][12][13]. It turns out that the dilaton interacts with the SM and DM through dimension-five or higher operators suppressed by the scale f .…”
