Introduction. The aim of this article is to describe the process of transforming agricultural education under the influence of prospects and trends in the development of the agricultural sector, including its digitization. To achieve this goal, it is important to analyze the existing system of training specialists for agriculture. Methods. To do this, works published in scientific journals were used to identify problematic areas, which were further examined as opportunities for development. Results. Digital competencies necessary for specialists in agriculture were identified and grouped. Then, a model for developing digital competencies was developed based on the level of digital literacy of the specialist and the depth of their knowledge and skills in the digital field. The model is considered at various levels, and the necessary sufficiency of competencies at each level is determined. The digital competencies necessary for workers in the agricultural sector of the economy are described using a mind map, which allowed for the systematic organization of competencies across various areas of study, including agricultural engineering, agronomy, biotechnology, veterinary medicine, and ecology. Conclusions. The presented model and mind map of digital competencies can be used for the development of educational programs in the corresponding fields of study, stimulating students and engaging them in activities aimed at developing digital competencies.
