Digital twin-driven smart supply chain

Abstract: Today’s supply chain is becoming complex and fragile. Hence, supply chain managers need to create and unlock the value of the smart supply chain. A smart supply chain requires connectivity, visibility, and agility, and it needs be integrated and intelligent. The digital twin (DT) concept satisfies these requirements. Therefore, we propose creating a DT-driven supply chain (DTSC) as an innovative and integrated solution for the smart supply chain. We provide background information to explain the DT concept and … Show more

“…[108] Although the idea of recovery recalls the system's ability to return to its original state, [93] it may be better defined as the capabilities employed in the post-disruption phase to restore operations and performance, [109] or as the system capability to respond to a disruptive event effectively and efficiently, allowing to return to its original, or even better state. [110] Wang et al [111] proposed the creation of a DT driven supply chain, in order to obtain an innovative agile supply chain. Indeed, DT can realize virtual maps of the whole process, perceive data, model possible scenarios, and facilitate the identification of solutions.…”

It usually provides a realistic digital representation of the physical asset, generated by enriching the geometric or graphical data with support from building automation systems (BAS), sensors, internet of things (IoT) components, and other feedback systems informing about the asset, its occupants, or its environment" [50].…”

“…Recently, owing to the effects of the global coronavirus pandemic and decline in the working-age population in some countries, production e ciency and labor productivity are being actively improved at manufacturing and production sites by introducing digital technologies. Digital transformation (DX), Internet of Things (IoT) utilization, digital twin application, etc., are the representative efforts being made in the manufacturing and production elds these days [1][2][3][4].…”
