Computational thinking (CT) is an important 21st-century skill. This paper aims at more useful CT assessment. Available evaluation instruments are reviewed; two generally accepted CT evaluation tools are selected for a comprehensive CT assessment: the CTt, a performance test, and the CTS, a self-assessment instrument. The sample comprises 202 high school students from German-speaking Switzerland. Concerning the CTt, Raschscalability is demonstrated. Utilizing the approach of the PISA studies, proficiency levels are formed that comprise tasks with specific characteristics that students are systematically able to master. This could help teachers to offer individual support to their students. In terms of the CTS, the original version is refined using confirmatory factor and measurement-invariance analysis. A latent profile analysis yielded four profiles, two of which are of particular interest. One profile comprises students with, on the one hand, moderate to high creative thinking ability, cooperativity, and critical thinking skills and, on the other hand, low algorithmic thinking ability. The second remarkable profile consists of students with particularly low cooperativity. Based on these strength and weakness profiles, teachers could offer support tailored to student needs.

Für die Umsetzung von Konzepten zur digitalen Bildung spielt der Prozess der Organisa tions entwicklung eine entscheidende Rolle. Der folgende Beitrag führt unter Berücksichtigung aktueller Entwicklungen im Zuge der Covid-19-Pandemie in das Thema Digitalisierung und Organisationsentwicklung von Bildungsinstitutionen ein und stellt einige der bildungspolitischen Konzepte und Strategien in diesem Umfeld vor. Anschließend werden die Methodik und der Arbeitsprozess der Reviewerstellung erläutert, die diesem Band zu Grunde liegen. Um eine umfassende Menge an aktuellen Studien zu identifizieren, wurde eine systematische Literaturrecherche mit deutschen und englischen Suchwörtern für den Suchzeitraum 2010, bzw. 2016 bis 2020 durchgeführt. Für die verschiedenen Bildungssektoren wurden jeweils eigene Datenbanksuchen und erweiterte Suchstrategien angewandt. Abschließend wird in diesem Kapitel diskutiert, welche Formen von Bias in Reviewverfahren auftreten können. Dabei lässt sich aufzeigen, dass Bias zwar nie ganz ausgeschlossen werden kann, aber auch kürzer angelegte Reviewverfahren von bestimmten Arbeitsschritten im Reviewprozess wie Transparenz, Dokumentation und Data-Sharing profitieren können.

PurposeDigital uptake amongst construction organisations is described as slow and ineffective, undermining a fundamental transformation and limiting construction firms from exploiting the digital benefits. In this space, meaningful research that utilises a qualitative approach in pursuit for employees' insights towards digital transformation is lacking. Such limited focus from previous efforts presents an opportunity to illuminate the determinants of an effective digital transformation that are, arguably, responsible for the status quo of low digital uptake in the construction sector. This paper aims to discuss the aforementioned idea.Design/methodology/approachThis study adopts a qualitative approach to address the literature's digital discreetness in construction. The qualitative approach captures employees' perspectives through its unbounded characteristic of encouraging illustration and discussion.FindingsThis paper captures 35 digital transformation determinants under three clusters, namely, organisation related, i.e. hierarchy, size and management, people related, i.e. team orientation, training and knowledge and leadership related, i.e. awareness, attitude, approach and leaders' characteristics. Findings suggest a new set of arguments in relation to understudied factors and their influence on the digital uptake in construction organisations.Originality/valueThis paper offers empirical indication of the determinants believed to influence an effective digital transformation in construction organisations. Such conceptualisation is crucial and is depicted as perceived by construction employees and practitioners, which is a less biased approach than that of comparable studies that argue the viewpoints of industry leaders in isolation of other members of the hierarchy.
