Abstract:Digital technology has the potential to eradicate extreme poverty and food insecurity to the majority of smallholder farmers in the world. This paper aims to identify knowledge gaps on digital technology for sustainable agriculture and assess their availability to smallholder farmers worldwide. The particular case of Tanzania receives special attention. We conducted an extensive literature search from relevant databases for review. The advanced digital technology in agriculture, mostly used by large scale farm… Show more
“…The digital management information system with ERP as the typical representative is considered as one of the important foundations for the internal digital transformation of enterprises (Pizzi et al, 2021). Digital technology will also promote satellite communication enterprises to improve the production process with products and processes as the entry point and promote the digital transformation of manufacturing industry (Mushi et al, 2022;Wen et al, 2022). Therefore, management mode reform and production process improvement can effectively promote the formation of internal advantages of digital transformation of satellite communication enterprises.…”
Introduction: Digital transformation is the key link of the prosperity and development of digital economy, and the successful digital transformation is the result of the synergy of multi-level factors. Methods: Based on the theoretical framework of technology-organization-environment, this paper takes 27 satellite communication enterprises as samples and uses fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis method to explore the configuration effect of six antecedent conditions at the level of technology, organization and environment on digital transformation of satellite communication enterprises. Results: The results show that a single antecedent condition does not constitute a necessary condition for digital transformation. There are four configuration paths for digital transformation of satellite communication industry, which are technology-organization-oriented, technology-organization-environment collaboration-oriented, technology-organization-oriented environment collaboration, and organization-environment-oriented. Under certain conditions, there is substitution effect between antecedents.Discussion: The complex causes of the digital transformation of Chinese satellite communication enterprises, and can provide beneficial enlightenment for the digital transformation of satellite communication enterprises.

“…Extensive irrigation makes use of 70% of the available freshwater resources. Internet of ings (IoT) and machine learning (ML)-based solution may help in efficient monitoring, controlling, and irrigation scheduling for agriculture fields [1][2][3][4][5][6][7].…”
To feed a growing population, sustainable agriculture practices are needed particularly for irrigation. Irrigation makes use of about 85% of the world’s freshwater resources. Thus, for efficient utilization of water in irrigation, conventional irrigation practices need to either be modified or be replaced with advanced and intelligent systems deploying Internet of Things, wireless sensor networks, and machine learning. This article proposes intelligent system for precision irrigation for monitoring and scheduling using Internet of Things, long range, low-power (LoRa)-based wireless sensor network, and machine learning. The proposed system makes use of soil and weather conditions for predicting the crop’s water requirement. The use of machine learning algorithms provides the proposed system capability of the prediction of irrigation need. Dataset of soil and weather conditions captured using sensors is used with six different machine learning algorithms, and the best one giving highest efficiency in predicting the irrigation scheduling is selected. Linear discriminant analysis algorithm gives the best efficiency of 91.25% with prediction efficiency.
“…Empirical studies have shown that rural digitalization has shaped various dynamic attitudes, behaviors, and abilities, though the opportunities for using digital technology are unchanged (Dewi et al, 2022). Rural entrepreneurship digitalization could alleviate extreme poverty and food insecurity for most small farmers worldwide (Sathya, 2019;Abeysinghe & Malik, 2021;Mushi et al, 2022). Studies have shown that rural digitalization technology could fill the void of new institutional theories and promote entrepreneurship and micro-enterprises in India .…”

“…Studies have shown that rural digitalization technology could fill the void of new institutional theories and promote entrepreneurship and micro-enterprises in India . However, this technology is not sustainable in most developing countries due to inequalities between large and small farmers (Mushi et al, 2022).…”
The digitalization technology transformation of entrepreneurship has positive impacts but also increases inequality and disrupts the sustainable development goals (SDGs). This study aimed to examine the impact of digitalization technology transformation on rural entrepreneurship and explain its mitigation efforts using exploratory sequential mixed methods. The policy acceptance model method was used to reduce uncertainty in analyzing entrepreneurial behavior patterns. Data were collected using questionnaires and semi-structured interviews equipped with ethnographic observations. The results showed that the digitalization technology transformation of rural entrepreneurship supports various new potentials. These include decent work opportunities, family entrepreneurship, and local economic growth. However, the technology increases inequality and the fear of traditional markets that could disrupt achieving other sustainable development goals (SDGs). This inequality and the risk of uncertainty could be mitigated by the social solidarity economic transformation business model based on the potential of local humanist wisdom. Therefore, this study could provide scientific information and implications for social and institutional policies. It could also contribute to the literature on new institutional and social entrepreneurship innovation theories related to the wave of Kontratieff Schumpeter.
