Digital Technologies for Improving Logistics Performance of Countries

Abstract: The logistics performance has a crucial role in the industrial and economic development of countries. This study aims to underline implications for policy makers in improving the logistics performance of countries in terms of Industry 4.0. For this purpose, the effect of digitalisation on logistics performance is analysed by using correlation and multiple regression analysis. The empirical study builds upon dimensions and indicators of the Digital Economy and Society Index (DESI) and Logistics Performance Inde… Show more

“…In addition, since firm resilience is critical to maintaining normal operations during disruptions and considering that digital technologies can provide strong information processing ability, on which firm resilience depends (Li et al, 2020 ; Balakrishnan & Ramanathan, 2021 ), our study aims to explore the impact of digital technologies on firm resilience in the context of COVID-19. A thorough literature review that we conducted suggests that existing empirical studies have mostly focused on the influence of digital technologies on various dimensions of enterprise performance (Setia et al, 2013 ; Li et al, 2020 ; Moldabekova et al, 2021 ), with very few efforts undertaken to discuss the effects of digital technologies on firm resilience. Therefore, we aim to fill this gap.…”

“…Čiefová [36], in her analysis of Austria's competitiveness, concludes that it is a function of long-term conditions so that the shift is prolonged. Moldabekova et al [37], due to the impact of Industry 4.0 on logistics performance, consider that it is essential to develop human capital, integrate digital technologies, and have dense and solid digital coverage.…”

“…Hence, new approaches for ships and ports are required to improve energy efficiency, reduce emissions and realise greener maritime operations [28]. An important instrument for hoisting sustainability gains in the maritime sector lies in digitalisation [9]- [12], whereby the improvement potentials heavily depend on the regional (digital) technological readiness and innovation potential [29], [30].…”
