Digital Radio

Abstract

This article presents an overview of digital radiocommunications with emphasis on wireless personal communications. The main objective of wireless personal communication is to allow the user access to the capabilities of the global network at any time and without regards to location and mobility. Digital radio, used extensively in second‐generation and the evolving third‐generation systems, considerably improves the quality of the cellular system and enhances the services available to the mobile subscribers.
