Digital media application technology has become the main expression of digital information media in the era of society through the perfect combination of art design and technical language through digitalization and informatization platforms. This paper studies the reform of the training mode of digital media application technology in the VR and AR direction of tourism management majors. Here, digital media application technology is used to reform the training model of tourism management professionals, and the teaching method of the talent training model is analyzed. A comparative analysis of the talent training programs of various universities is also conducted, and the experimental results of the reform of the talent training model are summarized. It shows that through the reform of the talent training model in the VRAR direction of the tourism management major, the overall learning performance of talents has been improved by 13.2%, and the research investment in VR and AR technology has increased by 23.7%.

“…The Al Jazeera channel has already been the focus of multiple comparative studies, with comparisons made with a range of different international media outlets in terms of output. Several researchers have also focused on examining Al Jazeera's media coverage of particular topics as compared to that of international news broadcasters: such topics have included the Israeli-Palestinian conflict (Aqtash et al, 2004;Barkho, 2007;Damanhoury and Saleh, 2017), the Arab Spring (Al Nahed, 2016;Bosio, 2013;Karyotakis et al, 2017) and terrorism (Alshathry, 2015;Gerhards and Schäfer, 2014). Damanhoury and Saleh (2017) compared output from CNN and Al Jazeera America (AJAM) to investigate how these channels framed the 2014 Gaza War, for example, revealing that the two media outlets applied differing reporting strategies: in particular, AJAM differentiated between civilians and militants when reporting death tolls, whilst CNN did not clarify whether any casualties were civilians or militants.…”

In this study, Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) was utilised to examine the Al Jazeera Arabic news website with respect to its reports on the social actors in the Yemen war, particularly the KSA, UAE, Egypt and Bahrain coalition and the opposing Houthis, both before and after the Gulf crisis that occurred on 5 June 2017. The analysed data included a total of 32 news articles related to the war in Yemen, with 16 articles covering the period prior to the Crisis, from 2015 to 2017, and 16 covering the period following the onset of the crisis, from 2017 to 2019. The overall aim was to uncover the ideological implications of various linguistic elements, such as lexical choices, news headline creation, and de-legitimisation strategies, and the results revealed identifiable, distinct, and non-random changes in tone and angle of representation relating to the various social actors and their actions. Before the crisis, the coalition was represented positively while Houthis was presented negatively, while after the crisis, the tone towards these social actors was completely reversed. The various discursive strategies used in the articles across both periods thus show that the coverage of the Yemen crisis was intended to ideologically and politically guide readers’ understanding of the crisis.

News Framing of the Arab Spring Conflict from the Lens of Newspaper Editorials

News framing of events often restricts us to either ‘oppose’ or ‘favour’ a particular side/party involved in a conflict. This paper examines the print media framing of the Arab Spring in the editorials of The News International (NI) of Pakistan and Arab News (AN) of Saudi Arabia. The coverage sample consists of newspaper editorials published from January 2011 to December 2012 when the uprising received phenomenal attention from the media worldwide. Qualitative content analysis of 48 newspaper editorials (24 NI/24 AN), demonstrates how senior media workers constructed the Arab Spring as an international conflict. Specifically, the lexical choices of editorial writers reveal that mainstream newspapers in both the countries positively framed the pro-Arab Spring protesters (public), who reportedly desired to bring the ‘change’. On the contrary, the media framing of the uprising also reflects that the newspapers negatively framed the anti-Arab Spring authorities (ruling elite), who reportedly resisted the ‘change’. A future research is recommended to investigate readers’ perspectives, as well, on the media portrayals of the Arab Spring or other similar conflicts which can give insights into how language use can impact and is impacted by ideology, cultural nuances and identity of diverse individuals.
