In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic occurred almost and spread to various people in the world. To protect the lives and health of the people, the government has organized various forces to prevent one of them by taking policies in education by implementing distance education. This study will explain the application of distance learning in language learning and teacher evaluation and expectations for improving education in next semester's learning activities. This research is a descriptive study using a survey method. The participants in this study were Indonesian Language teachers at the secondary school level in West Sumatra. The sample of this study were 108 teachers. In this study, questionnaires were distributed to all secondary teachers in West Sumatra through whatsApp media by distributing questionnaire links created using the Google form application. The instrument used was a questionnaire in the form of a questionnaire consisting of thirty-six statements. Based on the results and discussion it can be concluded that online distance learning during the COVID-19 pandemic has been carried out in almost all regions of West Sumatra in accordance with government policy. Even though it has been implemented well, but the implementation of this learning still has limitations so it needs to be further improved so that learning can be implemented better.

Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education is being increasingly recognized as needing vital emphasis at a national level. To enhance learning in Science and Mathematics, the repertoire of vocabularies plays a significant role. As the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) continues its spread across the world, people's vocabulary learning has been limited. Responding to this situation with appropriate awareness, e-learning is being applied to teach the English language. The intent of this study is to utilize Quizizz to enhance the vocabulary achievement among primary English as Second Language (ESL) pupils in rural schools. The study's research employed mixed methods with purposive sampling of 13 participants. The research site was a rural school located 60km from the nearest town. The data were collected both pre and post-test as designed by the researcher and Likert scale questionnaire. The data was analyzed using appropriate quantitative analysis. To shed more light on the implementation, a thematic analysis by use of a semi-structured interview was conducted. The study finds that 10 out of 13 participants have shown an increase in their post-test of filling in the blank scoring test. The data is strengthened by a moderately high mean score of a Likert scale questionnaire. Furthermore, the participants highlighted that the Quizizz's leaderboard matched their favored learning style. In this way, this feature tends to evoke a positive learning atmosphere. Thus, it can be concluded that Quizizz could enhance vocabulary achievement among primary English as Secondary Language (ESL) pupils in rural schools.

Knowledge and skills in using digital media are important for everyone, regardless of the occupation. One of them is a teacher. The use of various digital media can be useful for teachers in the learning process. Besides being useful for teachers as a means of delivering information, it is also useful for students in training to use digital media in the learning process. This study aims to determine the use of digital media in the learning process by the teacher. This research is a descriptive study using survey methods. The study sample was 112 Indonesian language teachers in West Sumatra. The research instruments used were questionnaires and interview guide sheets. The results of the study show that the media devices used have not been varied, policies that are known about the use of digital media have not been mastered, making many digital media creative content not mastered, the application of data transmission used has varied, and learning resources are still dominant through books. In general, the teacher agrees if the learning process uses online classes by relying on digital media. However, there are many obstacles if the policy is implemented, such as teacher competency, student competence, facilities and infrastructure, and other.
