Digital design of Coefficient Diagram Method

Abstract: Coefficient Diagram Method (CDM) is the one of the most effective control design methods in literature. It gives control systems that are very stable and robust, system responses without overshoot and very small settling time. The CDM, resolve the classical control problem after selecting a few meaningful design parameters and by automatically determining a target characteristic polynomial for the closedloop system. The classical CDM design was originally only performed in s-domain. But since, all industrial c… Show more

“…The coefficient diagram method or CDM is a kind of controller design theory and was first introduced by Professor Shunji Manabe [11]. From the efficient and uncomplicated CDM, there are many studies about CDM in various fields [12,13]. In addition, there is specific research using CDM in the aeronautic and aerospace field [14,15].…”

“…Figure 2 shows a schematic of a two-mass system consisting of two lumped inertias JM and JL, representing the motor and load, respectively, coupled via a shaft of finite stiffness KS, that is subject to torsional torque TS and excited by a combination of electromagnetic torque TM and load-torque perturbations TL. The motor angular velocity is denoted M and the load velocity is denoted L [16]. Two-mass system gives higher transient with a wide range of speed changers.…”

“…The rotor iron and the copper components in rotor are lumped into a network. The high level of accuracy could be achieved by modest subdivision of the induction machine's geometrical parts [17].The system of algebraic and differential equations which describes the thermal behavior of the developed thermal network model under transient condition is shown in equations (15)(16)(17)(18). The transient thermal network equations of the thermal model, taken node by node gives (15) through (18).…”

“…1 K of the estimated disturbance torque is fed back to the motor torque, then the inertia and resonance ratio of LF torsional resonance system are changed, and by adjusting the inertia ratio to an optimal value, the LF disturbance to the motor output shaft and load is suppressed simultaneously, the schematic of idea is shown in Figure 5. for any plant [5,6] . Adopting CDM to deduce the optimal inertia ratio can be easy and simple with guarantees of stability, response and robustness.…”
