Digital chaos synchronization in optical networks

Abstract: A new method to obtain digital chaos synchronization between two systems is reported. It is based on the use of Optically Programmable Logic Cells as chaos generators. When these cells are feedbacked, periodic and chaotic behaviours are obtained. They depend on the ratio between internal and external delay times. Chaos synchronization is obtained if a common driving signal feeds both systems. A control to impose the same boundary conditions to both systems is added to the emitter. New techniques to analyse dig… Show more

“…This situation corresponds to two identical and ideal configurations working under identical conditions. We have presented 12 these results previously. In order to recover the information signal, sent together with the chaos, an identical chaos must be subtracted from the incoming signal to the receiver.…”

“…2 shows the final circuit with feedback. According to previous studies 9 " 12 , the situation with more probability to give a periodic or even chaotic solution is when internal delay time is shorter than the external one. In every one of our studied cases, a regular train of pulses has been the input.…”

“…Last function of Boolean algebra is the exclusive OR (XOR) which can be done with NAND and NOR gates. XOR function it has been since the 60's very important for data codification [6] and still used in communications applications [18]. In order to obtain this last function, the internal configuration of our OPLC [1] can be demonstrated applying double value to our input digital data.…”

“…As a matter of fact, under certain conditions they offer the possibility to present an irregular output than, in some cases, becomes chaotic. These types of signals are potentially good candidates to be employed in secure systems if both, emitter and receiver are synchronised [7], It is because that a deep knowledge of the internal behaviour of these structures is needed. If it is important to know their working conditions when they are employed in computational structures, these conditions are even more important if they are employed in communications systems.…”
