Diffusion-Induced Ingress of Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme 2 into the Charge Conducting Path of a Pentacene Channel for Efficient Detection of SARS-CoV-2 in Saliva Samples

Abstract: Rapid and accurate identification of a pathogen is crucial for disease control and prevention of the epidemic of emerging infectious like SARS-CoV-2. However, no foolproof gold standard assay exists to date. Nucleic acid-based molecular diagnostic tests have been established for identifying COVID-19. However, viral RNAs are highly unstable in handling with poor laboratory procedures, leading to a false negative that accelerates the spread of the disease. Detection of the spike protein (S1) of the SARS-CoV-2 vi… Show more

“…High-resolution N 1s spectra of both cotton fibers are presented in Figure c,f. Modified cotton fibers show newly fitted peaks located at 398.5 and 402.3 eV, corresponding to CN bonds and cation NH 2 + groups within the modified cotton fibers, respectively. , These XPS and FTIR results strongly support the covalent bonding of ESO and PHMG to the cotton fibers …”

“…They observed a detection time of less than 1 min and a sensitivity of 94%, which is the highest reported value. [117] OFETs are excellent candidate for gas sensing. Analytes can interact with OSCs in reversible or irreversible interactions, including hydrogen bonding, charge transfer, hydrophobic interactions, dipole-dipole interactions etc.…”

“…Spin‐coating is another method used to adsorb bioreceptors onto a semiconductor layer. [ 172 ] The spin‐coating speed affects the diffusion of the bioreceptor in the film, thereby affecting the performance of the biosensor. Torsi et al [ 173 ] developed an electrolyte‐gated OFET immunosensor for detecting procalcitonin.…”
