Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma with uncommon cardiac invasion

Abstract: Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma is the most common histologic subtype of non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Secondary involvement of the heart is seen late in advanced cases, it is uncommon for diffuse large B-cell lymphoma to present as intracardiac mass. A 26-year-old female patient presented with progressive shortness of breath, facial swelling, and lower limb edema. “…Multifocal lymphoma with cardiac involvement is associated with a high death risk. The prognosis of lymphoma with cardiac involvement has a 10% survival rate of 9–12 months if untreated 4 . Chemotherapy is a mainstay in treating B‐cell non‐Hodgkin's lymphoma with cardiac involvement to improve survival rate 1,2,4 .…”

“…5 There is no evidence that surgery improves the prognosis, and it should only be considered in cases with definitely decompensated hemodynamics. 1,4 We therefore chose the less invasive retroperitoneal tumor biopsy and chemotherapy at first. Conversely, chemotherapy administration should consider the risk of cardiac rupture or tumor embolization.…”
