Differenzierung von Mangan(II)‐manganit und δ‐MnO2 durch Oberflächenmessung nach Brunauer‐Emmet‐Teller

Abstract: δ‐MnO2 shows a fast isotope exchange reaction owing to its special structure. It consists of an irregular accumulation of thin MnO2‐layers. Surface determinations were carried out by the BET adsorption method. The isotherms were measured with nitrogen at the temperature of liquid nitrogen. The surface found for MNII‐Manganite samples was between 30 and 50 m2/g. For δ‐MnO2 samples the surface was about 300 m2/g. The calculated surface area for a monoatomic layer amounts to 720 m2/g. Therefore the thicknes of th… Show more

“…[29,31] These two kinds of OMS materials do not support ion-exchange activity. [37] After an overnight ion exchange with 300 mL of 0.5 M sodium sulfate solution, pyrolusite and c-MnO 2 showed similar Cr/Mn ratios of about 0.10 from EDXS results (Table 2). Therefore, the only possibility for chromium to be present with such a high percentage in the total manganese seems to be the incorporation of Cr 3+ cations into the framework of pyrolusite and c-MnO 2 because the cations in the tunnels can be ion-exchanged with the cations in the solution and the Cr/Mn ratio should be decreased after ion exchange.…”
