Abstract: TSH stimulates proliferation and maintains differentiated function in thyroid follicular cells. The mitogenic activity and the stimulatory effects of TSH on thyroid-specific gene expression are impaired by interferon-␥ (IFN␥); however, the mechanisms for these effects have not been elucidated in detail.
