This study evaluated the impacts of inclusion of Moringa Oleifera leaves extract (MOLE) in semen extender on rams cryopreserved semen quality and fertilization potential. Forty ejaculates were collected from eight fertile Barki rams, pooled and divided into five groups. The semen extender of the control group was without additives. The semen extender of the second and third groups was supplemented with MOLE at doses of 300 and 600 mg/mL, respectively. The semen extender of the fourth and fifth groups was supplemented with a combination of vitamin E and selenium at doses of 2.5 and 5 mg/mL, respectively. One hundred ten multiparous Barki ewes were artificially inseminated with the semen supplemented without or with MOLE or vitamin E and selenium combination. Inclusion of MOLE in semen extender significantly elevated the motility, viability index, membrane integrity and fertilization capacity of the post-thawed spermatozoa, as well as the activities of semen catalase, total antioxidant capacity, superoxide dismutase, glutathione peroxidase, and glutathione reductase. However, it significantly decreased acrosomal defects and DNA fragmentation of spermatozoa, the activities of semen alkaline and acid phosphatase and the concentration of malondialdehyde compared with the other groups. Similarly, vitamin E and selenium significantly improved the above-mentioned parameters compared to those of the control group. This study indicated that inclusion of MOLE to semen extender improved the quality and fertility of the post-thawed rams' semen through enhancing the activities of the antioxidant enzyme system and decreasing the spermatozoa DNA fragmentation and lipid peroxidation. HIGHLIGHTS Moringa Oleifera leaves extract (MOLE) protected spermatozoa against cryopreservation induced oxidative stress. MOLE enhanced cryopreserved semen quality. MOLE enhanced post-thawed spermatozoa fertilization capacity.

The purpose of this research was to determine the best dosage of Moringa oleifera Aqueous extract in egg yolk skim milk extender for post thawed Limousin Bull sperm quality on aspect viability, and the level of. The treatment was divided into five groups: egg yolk and skim milk diluter (P0), 2,5% M. oleifera aqueous ekstract in 4 ml egg yolk skim milk (P1), 5% M. oleifera aqueous ekstract in 4 ml egg yolk skim milk (P2), 10% M. oleifera aqueous ekstract in 4 ml egg yolk skim milk (P3), 20% M. oleifera aqueous ekstract in 4 ml egg yolk skim milk (P4). The sperm quality was observed post thawing. The data were analyzed using ANOVA and Duncant Test. The best sperm motility showed on P2 with 43b ± 5,70, the best sperm viability showed on P3 with 58,20b ± 8,72 and than the lowest level of malondialdehyde showed on P4 with 5,434a ± 1,034. In conclusion addition of M. oleifera on dose 10% can increase quality of Limousin Sperm Post Thawed.

The objective of this research was to investigate the effect of flamboyant flower extract as a natural antioxidant on sperm quality of Aceh cattle after dilution and equilibration. Fresh semen was collected from 2 healthy bull aged 3.5-4 years old. The research took place in BIB Laboratory. The method used was CRD (Completed Randomized Design), with 6 treatments and 5 replications each The treatments (m/v) were 0%, 0.05%, 0.10%, 0.15% and 0.20% of flamboyant flower extracts. The method used was CRD (Completed Randomized Design), with 6 treatments and 5 replications each. The treatments (m/v) were 0%, 0.05%, 0.10%, 0.15% and 0.20% of flamboyant flower extracts. The data obtained were analyzed by analysis of variance (ANOVA). Parameters evaluated in this study were motility, viability, plasma membrane integrity, and abnormality. Results showed that there was an insignificant effect (p>0.05) of flamboyant flower extract on the quality of Aceh cattle spermatozoa. The best percentage of motility and viability, 80.0% and 88.4%, respectively, were found at P3 (0.15% flamboyant flower extract). In can be concluded from the research that the addition of 0.15% (m/v) D. regia flower extract was able to maintain sperm quality of Aceh cattle to be used in the artificial insemination program.
