Different complexation behavior of a proton transfer compound obtained from 1,10‐phenanthroline and pyridine‐2,6‐dicarboxylic acid with Sn(IV), Sb(III) and Tl(I)

Abstract: The different complexation methods of a proton transfer compound, (phenH)2(pydc) (phen=1,10‐phenanthroline; pydcH2= pyridine‐2,6‐dicarboxylic acid), are discussed and formation of [Sn(pydc)(phen)(OH)2]·3H2O (1), {[Sb(pydc)(phen)]2O}·2DMSO·4H2O(2) and [(Tl(pydcH)]n (3) complexes are reported. The characterization was performed using IR spectroscopy and X‐ray diffraction. The structures of Sn(IV) and Sb(III) complexes show that both cationic and anionic fragments of the starting proton transfer compound have bee… Show more

“…The results, summarized in table 5, show that the resulting log values are in satisfactory agreement with those reported for 8-HQ and ampy [36,37]. Evaluation of equilibrium constants for the reactions of pzdc with 8-HQ and ampy in different protonation forms was accomplished through comparison of calculated and experimental pH profiles, obtained with both pzdcH 2 and 8-HQ or pzdcH 2 and ampy present [23,38,39]. The results are shown in table 5.…”

“…The protonation constants of reactants pydcH 2 and dmp and stability constants of the resulting proton transfer adduct and their metal complexes were evaluated using the program BEST described by Martell and Motekaitis [15]. The value of K w = [H + ] [OH -] used in the calculations was according to our previous works [16][17][18][19].…”

“…protonated forms in aqueous solution [16][17][18]. In order to determine the stoichiometry and stability of the Cr 3+ and Ca 2+ complexes with pydc-dmp proton transfer system in aqueous solution, in this work we obtained the equilibrium potentiometric pH titration profiles of pydc, dmp and their 1:1 mixture in the absence and presence of the metal ions (Fig.…”
