“…More recently, Yale’s Substance Abuse-Domestic Violence integrated model increased participants’ motivation, improved compliance with treatment, and decreased both anger and alcohol consumption (Easton & Sinha, 2002). Overall, SA treatment has been found relatively effective in reducing or eliminating substance use (Carroll, 1998; Miller & Wilbourne, 2002), which is in turn associated with reducing IPV behavior (Easton, Mandel, Babuscio, Rounsaville, & Carroll, 2007; O’Farrell, Fals-Stewart, Murphy, & Murphy, 2003; O’Farrell& Murphy, 1995).
