Abstract:We examine the effect that the subtraction of multiple photons has on the statistical characteristics of a light field. In particular, we are interested in the question whether an initial state transforms into a lasing state, i.e., a (phase diffused) coherent state, after infinitely many photon subtractions. This question is discussed in terms of the Glauber P-representation P (α), the photon number distribution P [n], and the experimentally relevant autocorrelation functions g (m) . We show that a thermal st… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
