Difference of flux control between two‐dimensional orthogonal core and three‐dimensional orthogonal core

Abstract

This paper points out that when the primary and the secondary sides of the ferte orthogonal core, which is one of the three‐dimensional orthogonal cores, are modified, it can be regarded as a two‐dimensional orthogonal core. It is shown also that because of its shape, this type of core has the same flux control as the original ferrite orthogonal core. However, there is a difference in the flux control mechanism in the primary and the secondary sides due to the difference of orthogonal dimensions. Based on the results of investigations, the flux control and ac (alternate current) magnetization characteristics are measured for the ferrite orthogonal core and the two‐dimensional orthogonal core. By comparing their characteristics, the flux control and other performances are demonstrated.
