Dietary calcium and cell membrane abnormality in genetic hypertension.

Abstract: Adult stroke-prone spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHRSP) and Wistar-Kyoto (WKY) rats were maintained for 10 weeks on one of two diets: 1.0% calcium content and 2.5% calcium content. At the end of this time rats were anesthetized, and blood pressure was determined by means of aortic cannulation; then the rats were exsanguinated.
