Abstract:The effective dielectric function of colloidal solution in the vicinity of a solution-pure solvent interface is discussed. A simple expression is derived for the transverse and longitudinal components of the dielectric permittivity tensor ⑀ J as a function of the distance from the interface. In the approximation made, the sole effect responsible for the ⑀ J anisotropy and space dependence is the asymmetry in the pair correlation function. Consequently, the final result is valid for dilute solutions only. The e… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
