Dielectric and Pyroelectric Properties of Ferroelectric SBN–PVDF Composites Prepared by Hot‐Uniaxial Press

Abstract: Composites of polyvinyledene fluoride (PVDF) and strontium barium niobate (SrxBa1−xNb2O6 for x = 0.53/SBN)/ФSBN − (1 − Ф)PVDF with Ф = 0.1 to 0.3 have been prepared by hot uniaxial press. Structural, morphological, dielectric and pyrolectric properties of the composites have been studied. Self‐sustaining thick films with a 0–3 connectivity have been synthesized. The dielectric constant (εr) was found to increase with the increase in ceramic volume fraction (Ф) in the composite. The composite with Ф = 0.3 is fo… Show more

“…Temperature, pressure, and operating time are the three primary factors in the hot press. Most hot press operations require a temperature of at least 150°C, and occasionally even 200°C [26,27]. Depending on the experimental circumstances, the hot press's pressures differ from one another.…”

“…FTIR: One of the most often used methods for examining is FTIR (Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy). The importance of FTIR microscopy is the micro-destructive study of tiny samples and the advent of mapping and imaging technology has made it possible to gather several FTIR spectra on a surface and produce a distribution map of recognized substances [26]. Figure 1 displays the results of calculating the relative beta phase using FTIR spectra [17].…”

“…PVDF is a semicrystalline polymer, with 50-70 % crystalline, and shows typically four crystalline forms (a-, b-, r-, and c-form) [9,10]. Among those forms, b-form exhibits the highest electric properties coefficients [11]. Its main chain, -CH 2 -CF 2 -, has a large dipole moment resulting in a high dielectric constant [12,13].…”
