Dielectric and piezoelectric properties of lead-free (Bi,Na)TiO3-based thin films

Abstract: Dielectric and piezoelectric properties of morphotropic phase boundary (Bi,Na)TiO 3-(Bi,K)TiO 3-BaTiO 3 epitaxial thin films deposited on SrRuO 3 coated SrTiO 3 substrates were reported. Thin films of 350 nm thickness exhibited small signal dielectric permittivity and loss tangent values of 750 and 0.15, respectively, at 1 kHz. Ferroelectric hysteresis measurements indicated a remanent polarization value of 30 µC/cm 2 with a coercive field of 85-100 kV/cm. The thin film transverse piezoelectric coefficient e 3… Show more

“…[8][9][10][11][12] Consequently, doping effects on the electrical properties of thin film BNBT materials are still unclear. Abazari et al 13 has recently reported epitaxial potassium modified BNBT thin films grown on SrRuO 3 coated SrTiO 3 substrates by pulsed laser deposition ͑PLD͒. Dielectric and piezoelectric properties of the films were evaluated macroscopically.…”

“…Especially, the Asite complex perovskite (Na 0.5 Bi 0.5 )TiO 3 (BNT) system have been considered to be one of the most important promising candidates because of its excellent ferroelectric and piezoelectric properties [10][11][12][13][14][15]. BNT thin films have been fabricated on various oxide single-crystal substrates using a broad spectrum of techniques [16][17][18][19][20][21]. However, it is well known that the singlecrystal oxide substrates have high cost and limited sizes.…”

“…To prevent the appearance of cracks during aging and drying steps, an appropriate formamide (about 10 : 1 in volume ratio) was added to the above solution as a stabilizing agent. 5 During the whole preparation process, the mixture was stirred constantly at room temperature until a transparent and stable yellow solution with a concentration of 0.26 M, determined by an inductive coupled plasma emission spectrometer (ICP), was obtained. In the preparation, ten percent excess of bismuth and twenty percent excess of sodium/potassium was added to balance out their volatility during the heat treatment process.…”

“…[5][6][7][8][9] Some efforts have been undertaken to enhance the energy-storage density of NBT-based lms. For example, Li et al obtained a high energy-storage density of about 13.02 J cm À3 and a medium efficiency of about 44.81% in 0.9(Na 0.5 Bi 0.5 )TiO 3 -0.1PbTiO 3 thin lms due to high electric-eld endurance and enhanced polarizability; 10 Xu et al obtained a large energy density of about 36.1 J cm À3 and a corresponding efficiency of about 40.8% in 0.95(Na 0.5 Bi 0.5 )TiO 3 -0.05SrTiO 3 thick lms.…”
