Die Versorgung der frischen und der veralteten Kreuzbandruptur mit kombiniertem autologem und alloplastisch verstärktem Sehnentransplantat (Polypropylen-Band)

Abstract: After discussing basic problems in repair and reconstruction of acute as well as secondary anterior cruciate ligament-lesions authors present a modified Kennedy-MacIntosh technique of acl-reconstruction. Temporary compensation of loss in tensile strength of the autograft (quadriceps-patellar-tendon) is achieved by an 8 mm Polypropylene band with excellent biocompatibility and mechanical characteristics. "Biological fixation" of the distal part of the tendon-graft avoids "stress shielding" and physiological app… Show more

“…The use of autologous material (semitendinosus, gracilis, or patellar tendon) requires that a large portion of the cruciate fibers must be sacrificed because of the relatively large diameter of these grafts. 5,57 In this study we found only one patient with a foreign body reaction, demonstrating good tolerance for the Trevira augmentation device. In contrast to other synthetic ligaments that fray upon rupture, the Trevira augmentation device develops a clean break without evidence of abrasion.…”
