Die spätaltpleistozäne Fossillagerstätte Dorn-Dürkheim 3 und ihre Bedeutung für die Rekonstruktion der Entwicklung des rheinischen Flußsystems

Abstract

KurzfassungDie sp/italtpleistoz~ine Ostracoden-und S~iugetierfauna von Dorn-Dª 3 wird vorgestellt. Sie ist s/iugetierstratigraphisch in das Jungbiharium zu datieren. Aufgrund von pal/iomagnetischen Untersuchungen geh6rt sie andererseits noch in das Matuyama-Chron. Demnach betr~igt ihr absolutes Alter etwa 800.000 Jahre. Geologie und Sedimentologie, Pal/io6kologie und Taphonomie der Fossillagerst~itte werden dargestellt und diskutiert. Die Fundstelle wird angesehen als Bonebed, das am Ufer eines Sª entstanden ist. Der See bildete sich m6glicherweise, als der Alpenrhein Anschluf3 an das rheinische Flul3system gewann. Abstract[The late Early Pleistocene fossil lagerstaette Dorn-Dª 3 and its significance for reconstructing the development of the Rhenish fluvial system]. --The ostracod and mammal faunas of the Late Early Pleistocene of Dorn-Dª 3 are described. In terms of mammalian biostratigraphy the locality dates into the Late Biharian, whereas palaeomagnetic investigations indicate still the Matuyama Chron. Therefore, its absolute age is estimated at about 800,000 years. The geology and sedimentology as well as the palaeoecology and taphonomy of the fossil lagerstaette are described and discussed. The site is considered asa bone bed developed on the shore of a freshwater lake. The lake developed possibly when the Alpine Rhine got access to the Rhenish river system. K e y w o r d s:
