suggest the extent of mutual aid and satisfaction which can be derived from reciprocal relations of these two branches of medicine under ideal conditions of trust and understanding. In conclusion and at the risk of being repetitious, I would exhort the gastroenterologist to follow up his patient through the operating room to his immediate and protracted postoperative life and to keep his surgical colleague well informed on his observations, for the well-being of that patient is the objective of their efforts and excellence of end results is the goal of both.
