This article builds upon recent scholarship emphasizing the importance of Gregory the Great's Register as a key text of the Carolingian and post‐Carolingian library, exploring by contrast its peculiarly limited reception in England. It first surveys what little evidence we have for its citation by English ecclesiastics (post‐c.1000, mostly via Wulfstan); it then examines the single text in a pre‐Conquest manuscript usually catalogued as a letter from the Register, showing that this has been reworked as an anonymous admonitio to judges (probably bishops). It concludes by reflecting on the implications of this limited reception for our understanding of the later Anglo‐Saxon church – a community otherwise well‐invested in Gregory's memory.

У статті досліджено динаміку польських уявлень про німців і Німеччину, вербалізованих сучасними польськими студентами-германістами, порівняно з аналогічними розвідками інших науковців (2000, 2005 та 2012 років). Із цією метою у квітні–травні 2023 року було проведено опитування серед майбутніх германістів в Університеті імені Адама Міцкевича в Познані. У ході дослідження студентам ставилися запитання про їхні візити до Німеччини, отримані враження та спогади, а також про уявлення їхніх батьків про Німеччину. Виявилося, що студенти-германісти 2023 року мали значно позитивне уявлення про Німеччину, ніж учасники аналогічних досліджень за останні понад 20 років. Порівняно з попередніми дослідженнями, більшість студентів-германістів вважає німців толерантними, відкритими, освіченими та дружніми, що свідчить про помітне поліпшення ставлення до них. Типовими рисами німців називають охайність, сучасність, чесність, підприємливість, скептицизм та гарну організованість (хоча водночас наголошують і на напруженості та формалістичності), що цілком перегукується з попередніми дослідженнями. Студенти асоціюють Німеччину так само, як і учасники попередніх досліджень – країною із сильною економікою та високим ступенем добробуту, але кількість тих, хто асоціює її з Другою світовою війною, значно менша. Разом із цим, було виявлено різноманітні асоціації, що стосуються життя в Німеччині сьогодні та сучасних тенденцій розвитку соціуму, зокрема мультикультурність, екологія. Проте загальні уявлення про німців достатньо критичні, що зумовлено негативними асоціаціями, пов’язаними з досвідом минулого, які, хоча з плином часу й відійшли на другий план, але залишаються актуальними.
