Ohne auf des Problem der Pigmentbildung in der menschlichen Haut nigher einzugehen, wollen wir in der vorliegenden Arbeit die l~rage des Leukoderma syphiliticum noeh einmal klinisch und experimentell priifen, um gewisse strittige Punkte, die yon der Frage fiber den Chemismus der Pigmentbildung unabhi~ngig sind, de r LSsung nigher zu bringen.Des Leukoderma syphilitieum wurde lange Zeit, bevor es Gegenstand der allgemeinen Aufmerksamkeit geworden ist~ yon einzelnen franzSsischen und englisehen bzw. amerikanischen Autoren besebrieben und entsprechend der jeweiligen A~fassung und dem beobaehteten ~aterial verschieden benannt. Pillon (1855) beschrieb ein ,,Syphilide maculeuse du cou", Hardy (1858) ein ,Syphilide pigmentaire oie maculeuse", Bazin (1866) eine , Vitiligo syphilitique" und G. H. Fox (1878) ebenfMls eine ,,Vitiligo syphilitica". Dabei unterlief den franzSsisehen Autoren der Irrtum, dal~ sic die pigmentierten Hautstellen fiir die pathologiseh ver~nderten hielten, eine Auffassung, die in Frankreieh auch heute noeh nicht ganz verlassen zu sein seheint (Darier). Doeh bemerken berei~ Pillon wie Hardy, da~ die weiBen Fleeke so eigenartig besehaffen seien, dM~ man sie fiir ,,le si~ge du real" hMten k5nnte. H. l~ox erkaJante Ms erster, dab nieht die Pigmentierung, sondern im Gegenteil gerade die depigmentierten Fleeke des Wesentliehe seien, eine Auftassung, die sp/~ter such yon Oskar Simon (1880) ausgesproehen Wurde und der sich die deutsche Schule bis zum heutigen Tage ziemlieh ausnahmslos angeschlossen hat. Die eigentliehe Diskussion fiber die Leukodermafrage wurde erSffnet dutch die Arbeiten yon O. Simon, Neisser, Riehl und Ehrmann. Alle diese Arbeiten knfipften an Fi~lle yon Leukoderma~ an, bei denen unzweifelhaft nachgewiesen werden konnte, oder wo es besonders auffMlig war, dM~ die Leukoderma/lecke yon Exantheme/florescenzen ausgingen. Nachdem die Frage, ob die Pigmentierung oder die Depigmentierungen des pathologische Moment im Bilde des Leukoderma syphiliticure darstellen, yon den dentsehen Autoren ziemlich einstimmig in dem letzteren Sinne be~ntwortet war, erstreckte sieh die Diskussion im wesentlichen fiber folgende Punkte: 1. Entwickelt sich das Leukoderma au] der Basis eines vorhergegangenen Exanthems oder entsteht es unabMingig veto Exanthem als ein luetisches Prokukt sui generis, allen/alls als fl_quivalent eines Exanthems ? 3. Welche Momente sind /~r die Entstehung der depigmentierten Flecl~e sowie der Hyperlgigmentierung in ihrer Umgebung bestimmend ? Beziiglieh der ersten Frage waren die Ansiehten der Autoren anfangs geteilt, wenngleich sich die Mehrzahl der urspriinglichen Auffassung Pillons anschlof~ und geneig~ war, im Leukoderma ein Symptom der Lues zu erblicken.
