Dichlorido{2-[(E)-phenyl(pyridin-2-yl-κN)methylidene]-N-phenylhydrazinecarboxamide-κ2N2,O}copper(II)

Abstract: The title compound, [CuCl2(C19H16N4O)], contains a CuII atom N,N′,O-chelated by a neutral N-phenylhydrazinecarboxamide ligand and additionally coordinated by two Cl atoms, resulting in a distorted square-pyramidal geometry. The ligating atoms in the basal square plane of the complex comprise the azomethine N, the pyridine N, the amide O and one of the Cl atoms, whereas the other Cl atom occupies an apical position. The apical Cl atoms in adjacent layers function as hydrogen-bond acceptors to both NH grou… Show more

“…Molecules having urea functionality have been reported in a wide range of applications, in particular, metal binding as neutral or anionic ligands [1][2][3][4][5][6]. These molecules have also been found to be useful in surfactant self-assembies [7] and photo-dimerizing agents in coumarins [8].…”

“…They have been found to be associated with antitumoral (Afrasiabi et al, 2005), antimicrobial (Siji et al, 2010), antihypertensive, hypolipidemic, antineoplastic, hypnotic and anticonvulsant properties. They can function as excellent ligands to various metal ions (Kala et al, 2007;Aiswarya et al, 2013;Kurup et al, 2011) and can coordinate to metal ions either in the neutral (Siji et al, 2011) or in the anionic forms (Reena et al, 2008). Single crystals of acetophenone semicarbazones are potential organic non-linear optical (NLO) materials and they have a wide transparency window in the entire visible region, making them ideal candidates for NLO device applications (Vijayan et al, 2001).…”
