Diazabenzo crowns grafted on the polystyrene and application of extraction of metal cations

Abstract: A B S T R A C TThe study of the new structures mainly useful in the synthesis of more efficient and selective new extractants led to the development of new series of macromolecules. Hence, in our present experiment, the expanded polystyrene packaging waste was chemically modified. Then, the functionalization of polystyrene recovered by the direct blending and grafting of a benzenic crown ether group was carried out. The obtained resins were characterized by elemental analysis, infrared spectroscopy, differenti… Show more

“…However, the X-ray diffraction patterns (Figure 4) of PSÀ NH 2 (b) showed the appearance of many sharps' peaks, at 19,22,29,31,45, 51 and 56 2θ, as compared to PSÀ NO 2 which had no sharp peaks. In the PSÀ NHÀ Im (c) the two peaks at 29 and 45disappeared.Finally, the complex polystyrene-NH-imidate/Ba 2 + showed the appearance of peaks at many different angles: 18, 20, 22, 26, 27, 29, 31, 33 and 42, some as in PSÀ NH 2 and PSÀ NHÀ Im and some new.…”

“…Atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS) analysis (Perkin-Elmer AAnalyst 200) calibrated with solutions of the studied metal (0.5-5 mg/dm 3 ). Aminated Polystyrene [7,[28][29][30] 5 g weights of polystyrene beads were treated with 40 mL of concentrated HNO 3 and 10 mL of H 2 SO 4 and the mixture stirred at 60 °C for 30 min. The precipitate (PSÀ NO 2 ) was washed with water several times until pH = 7 (acid free).…”

“…In Figure b, characteristic bands of crown ether were observed in all samples. The 2948 cm –1 band should be attributed to aromatic C–H stretching vibration, the 1590 cm –1 band was indicative of the aromatic backbone vibration, the band at 1500 cm –1 should be ascribed to the C–H vibration of the phenyl ring; the 1248 and 1130 cm –1 bands corresponded to the vibration of C–O–C and Ar–O–C, respectively, and the band at 739 cm –1 could be assigned to aromatic C–H vibration of ortho-disubstituted phenyl out-of-plane deformation. Combining the results from UV and FTIR measurements, we believed that B15C5 could be confined within PVC and continuously provide a B15C5-rich environment for Li and further alter the Li reduction kinetics.…”

“…Thus, at 1600–1500 cm −1 there is a small specific vibration attributed to the C–H bond in the benzene ring from the crown ethers [ 24 ]. The small vibrations recorded at 1250–1140 cm −1 are specific to the C–O–C and C 6 H 5 –O–C bond in the crown ethers [ 25 ].…”
