Carbohydrates U 0500Diastereoselective Synthesis and Antifungal Activity of Glycosyl Isoxazolines. -A variety of glycosyl isoxazolines [cf. (IV), (VII); 23 examples] are synthesized via 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition of nitrile oxides, generated in situ from corresponding glycosyl oximes, with substituted alkenes. Almost all the isoxazolines obtained inhibit fungal growth. In particular, compounds (Vd) and (Vh) show significant inhibition of Sporothrix schenckii, Trychophyton mentagrophytes, and Cryptococcus neoformans. -(MISHRA, R. C.; TEWARI, N.; VERMA, S.
