Diaphanocephalus galeatus (Nematoda: Diaphanocephalidae), parasite of Salvator merianae (Squamata: Teiidae) in southern Brazil

Abstract: The gastrointestinal tract of 20 Argentine black and white tegu Salvator merianae, was examined in search of nematodes. The diaphanocephalid nematode Diaphanocephalus galeatus was identified with a prevalence of 80%. This work contributes to the knowledge of the host's helminth diversity, being the first record in southern Brazil, and presents unpublished photographic records of the species.
