Dianthus borbonicus (Caryophyllaceae), a new species from Sicily

Abstract

Dianthus borbonicus a new species occurring in North-Western Sicily is described and illustrated. It is a rare chasmophyte belonging to the D. sylvestris group, which is exclusive of a rupestrian stand near Rocca Busambra (Ficuzza). Its macro- and micromorphological features (seed testa sculptures, and leaf anatomy), ecology, conservation status and a comparison with the related species are provided too.

Phenotypic correlates of genetic divergence suggest at least three species in the complex of Dianthus virgineus (Caryophyllaceae)

Endemi̇k Dianthus Goekayi (Caryophyllaceae) Türünün Bazi Bi̇yoloji̇k Özelli̇kleri̇ Üzeri̇ne Bi̇r Araştirma

“…Anatomik sonuçlara göre, Caryophylaceae'de diasitik stoma tipinin gözlendiği [11] ve [12] ile D. orientalis ve D. calocephaus için diasitik stoma tipi ve amfistomatik yaprak tipi'nin varlığı [13], Dianthus borbonicus taksonu için amfistomatik yaprak tipi olduğu [14] sonuçları ile çalışmamızdaki sonuçlar uyumlu olduğu görülmektedir. Ayrıca Dianthus orientalis ve Dianthus borbonicus türleri ile yapılan çalışmalardaki verilerde, epidermisin altında stomalara sahip bir bitkinin kserofit olduğu bilgisi [13,14], Dianthus goekayi'nin de bu özelliği sebebiyle kserofit olduğu ile uyumludur. D. calocephalus, D. orientalis ve Dianthus ingoldbyi türlerinde, yapraklarda mum tabakasıyla örtülmüş, dalgalı, kalın bir kutikulanın varlığı [13,15] Dianthus goekayi'de de gözlenmiştir.…”
