Diamidoamine Aluminum Complexes: Synthesis, Structure, L–Lactide and ϵ‐Caprolactone Polymerization

Abstract: A series of methyl and chlorido aluminum complexes decorated with diamidoamine ligands with different number of carbon atoms in the alkyl chains were prepared via methane elimination, salt methatesis route, transmetallation strategy or chlorination. They were investigated by various methods including 19F, 27Al NMR spectroscopy and showed to be active catalysts of ring‐opening polymerization of ϵ‐Cl and L−La.

“…In combination with four eq. zinc methyllithium complexes containing 2,6-bis(amino)phenol, (Figure 32) the ligands showed very high activity against ε-CL ROP, both in the presence and in the absence of BnOH [128]. At the same time, the zinc complex 217/MeLi catalytic system in δ-VL ROP also showed high activity in the presence or absence of BnOH, with the complete conversion of δ-VL in 3-10 min.…”

“…In [128], the authors obtained a number of aluminum complexes based on ligands of the diamidoamine type with different numbers of carbon atoms in the ligand (Figure 25). Preliminary tests were carried out to study the catalytic activity of complexes 143, 144 and 146 with regard to such cyclic lactones as L-LA and ε-CL.…”
