Abstract:Diamagnetism is the response of dynamical compositions of charged particles, electrons, and nuclei, to an incident magnetic field. In this paper, we study how the finite temperature and finite nuclear masses affect the diamagnetic susceptibilities of selected small atoms and molecules, as limiting cases of dilute gas. We use nonrelativistic path-integral Monte Carlo simulation (PIMC), where both electrons and nuclei are treated on equal footing at finite temperatures in sampling exact Coulomb pair density matr… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
