Objective: The objective of this research was to carry out a scientometric analysis of the concept of “ethno” in “development” or “ethnodevelopment” with an emphasis on indigenous peoples.
Theoretical Framework: In this topic, the main concepts that underpin the topic under study were presented. The importance of knowing the meanings and needs of each community, historical experiences and their potential, both productive and environmental, is highlighted, aiming to support the understanding and interrelationships existing in the concept of ethnodevelopment.
Method: The methodology adopted in this research is based on a systematic literature review. To this end, a quantitative and qualitative survey of publications that work with the topic under study was carried out. Using the Web of Science platform, a bibliographic survey was carried out between March and June 2021.
Results and Discussion: The results obtained show that the most common publications are in the format of scientific articles and the countries with the highest number of publications are the United States, followed by New Zealand.
Research Implications: Support future research in the area, thus contributing to the formulation of development strategies for indigenous communities.
Originality/Value: The contribution generated by the study is to present that scientific research in this area is still recent and there are few publications available to carry out an excellent bibliographic survey. The relevance and value of this research focus on stimulating “ethno” research in traditional communities, aiming to support strategies for formulating public policies.
