Diagnóstico dos resíduos sólidos em uma instituição de ensino superior

Abstract

Higher education institutions should practice an appropriate policy regarding the solid waste they generate from their Management Plan. The objective of the research was to diagnose solid waste on Campus VI of the State University of Pará in Paragominas, Brazil. An obtained the primary data, a semi-structured form (ten questions: five goals and five subjects) was applied in the 17 sectors, and the secondary ones, research was done in open access electronic links such as SciELO, BDDT, Web Science and Science Direct. The inductive method was applied, with exploratory character and qualitative and quantitative scope. The gravimeter of the residues was performed according to the solids produced. The analysis indicated that there is on Campus VI, 17 sources are generating solid wastes and the most produced are; papers (n = 94.1%); cardboard (n = 82.3%); plastic packaging (n = 88.2%); glasses are discarded by only five (n = 9.4%) of them; 6.55 kg/day, and 139.09 kg/month of solid waste are generated. There are no selective collectors at the production sites since the destination and disposal are the open-air outlets from the collection carried out by the outsourced company hired by the municipality of Paragominas -PA. Also, Campus VI does not have a Solid Waste Management Plan.
