Diagnostic sensitivity of multidetector-row spiral computed tomography angiography in the evaluation of type-ii endoleaks and their source: comparison between axial scans and reformatting techniques

Abstract: Reformatting techniques provide good-quality images; nevertheless, their efficacy in the study of type-II endoleak was found to be suboptimal in comparison to regular axial images. The MPR technique is probably the best choice in conjunction with axial images.

“…However, the current CT 3D reconstruction of medical imaging is only the different post-processing methods towards the volume images, such as CT surfaceshading reconstruction (SSD), maximum intensity projection (MIP) and multiplanar reconstruction (MPR), etc. [29][30][31]. The 3D anatomical data are often limited by the software packages of CT machine workstation instead of by the digitalization of human anatomic structure, therefore it could not be connected to the CAD post-processing, processing and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) of reverse engineering, thus the RP modeling of reverse engineering could not be completed [11,[32][33][34].…”

“…CLL 3D-CTA might be the only way to predict the behaviour of these complex stentgrafts under challenging conditions. Beyond this, the CLL 3D-CTA vascular analysis might be important during the post-EVAR follow-up and especially for the recognition of possible endoleaks and definition of distal endograft's migration, as well as for planning a secondary proximal cuff placement (21, 22).…”
