“…Several studies have demonstrated early diagnosis or prediction of VOD/SOS with this method, before the appearance of conventional clinical criteria [74][75][76]. Other proposed methods involve the multifactorial, or panel, scoring approach for early diagnosis or prediction of VOD/SOS with the use of ultrasound [77][78][79][80]. Independent predictors of VOD/SOS that may enhance ultrasound diagnosis include gallbladder wall thickening and paraumbilical vein blood flow [78,80].…”

“…Proposed methods aimed at diagnosis or prediction specifically of chemotherapy-induced VOD/SOS include a score consisting of expression of CD34 cells, increased levels of smooth muscle actin, and aberrant expression of glutamine synthetase [79]. The use of contrast-enhanced computed tomography also has been suggested to detect multiple factors such as clover-like sign, peripheral distribution of heterogeneity, increased spleen volume, and hepatic parenchyma, which were found to be independent predictors of VOD/SOS via this method [77,81,82].…”

“…Zhou et al reported that liver parenchyma surrounding the main hepatic veins demonstrated relatively normal enhancement compared to the rest of the patchy enhanced area of liver. This interesting nding is called "clover sign", suggest that the venules adjacent to the hepatic main vein are more likely to keep patent; the extent of abnormal patchy liver enhancement re ect the severity of the disease [20][21][22][23][24] . In present study, the SOS images showed that the enhancement distribution around the main hepatic vein was obvious, while the patchy enhancement was dominant in the BCS patients, which was related to the different pathogenesis, location and degree of liver parenchymal injury of the two diseases.…”

“…In one study, orthotopic ovarian-mouse models revealed tumor-derived, interleukin-6-stimulated, hepaticthrombopoietin (TPO) synthesis and paraneoplastic induction of thrombocytosis (255). Liver metastasis along with Fusobacterium in the liver can also trigger the thrombotic Trousseau's syndrome (256)(257)(258). Observed abnormalities associated with coagulation factors like fibrinogen and prothrombin in liver disease could activate platelets (259).…”
