“…The main arguments of specialists who are reluctant to implement CNB are the requirement of a radiologist and imaging infrastructure on site, local anesthesia, a higher cost, more discomfort, risk for tumor seeding and a higher bleeding risk ( 45 ). However, looking critically at the literature, only self-limiting hemorrhages were reported, the incidence of post-CNB hematomas ranging between 0.02% and 2,4% ( 58 , 60 ).…”

“…Nam et al reported some intraparenchymal hemorrhage that merely needed simple compression (47). Hematoma rate for CNB in thyroid pathology was recently reported to be 2.4% (58). Targeting lymphadenopathy, when present, can help reduce hematoma risk.…”

“…To the best of our knowledge, only one other study has compared automatic and semi-automatic needles for CT-guided lung biopsy in the diagnostic accuracy and overall complications [ 6 ], reporting better results in favor of automatic guns. Outcomes that were also reflected in biopsies performed on other organs [ 16 , 17 ]. We hereby confirm that these techniques are efficacious and highly accurate, with relatively low complications associated.…”

“…Core needle biopsy requires imaging infrastructure on site, local anaesthesia, a higher cost, more discomfort, with risk for tumour seeding and a higher bleeding risk [25]. However, only self-limiting haemorrhages have been reported with an incidence of post core needle biopsy haematomas ranging between 0.02 and 2.4% [26]. Recently, in April 2022, an Italian prospective series compared FNA and core needle biopsy in a cohort of patients presenting with a rapidly growing thyroid mass including 13 PTL.…”
