Diagnostic de l’Etat de Fertilité des Sols Sous Culture Cotonnière Dans les Principaux Bassins de Production de Côte d’Ivoire

Abstract: The study was conducted to assess the fertility potential of cotton soilsin Côte d’Ivoire. A total of 500 plots of cotton farmers in 5 regions of thecotton basin was selected for soil sampling in the horizon 0-20 cm. Thechemical analyzes of soil samples in the laboratory were performed on thefollowing parameters: particle size, pHwater, organic matter, total N, availableP, K, Ca, Mg and Cation Exchange Capacity (CEC) of soil. The physicalcharacterization revealed that the studied soils are mainly sandy texture… Show more

“…The analysis results showed three basic parameters which were soil type, macronutrients and micronutrients components (Table 3a). According to Kouadio et al (2018) conclusions, we may conclude that the plots were established on a sandy-silty soil. Indeed, there was a sand predominance for 74.35% (Table 3a).…”

“…Therefore, due to this high sand content, this soil has a low retention capacity in exchangeable bases (Kouadio et al, 2018). Accordingly, regarding cotton growing conditions and recommendations (CNRA, 2006;Kouadio et al, 2018), cotton plant needs have been evaluated for fertilizers application (Tables 3b and 3c). Following, the quantities used per ha in T1 and T2 experimental plots were 280 kg for NPKSB-15.15.15.6.1 and 65 kg for urea-46% (Table 3c).…”

“…Cette texture sableuse confère à ces sols un bon drainage, une bonne circulation de l'air et une pénétration facile des racines. Ces sols possèdent de très faibles teneurs en matière organique total et leurs pH eau varie de 6 à 7 (Yoro, 2000 ;N'Gbesso et al, 2017 ;N'Goran et al, 2018). La réserve en eau de ces sols est en moyenne faible et la perméabilité est généralement élevée.…”

“…Like other countries in the Gulf of Guinea, Cote d'Ivoire is facing a continuous decline in soil fertility resulting in stagnant or declining cotton yields (5). Soil fertility degradation through nutrient depletion, mainly by erosion and/or crop removal, is one of the threats facing agricultural systems in Cote d'Ivoire.…”
